SERVICE: 72nd Martyrdom of Father of Nation was observed on 30th January, 2019 at Dewan –e- Aam, Mubarak Mandi , Jammu. It was organised by the Gandhi Family J&K. People from all walks of life including students and representatives of civil societies participated in it. Students from five states Jharkhand, J&K, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Mizoram accorded. The atmosphere was echoing with the favourite Bhajans of Mahatma Gandhi, “ Raghu Pati Raghav Raja Ram “.Govt. and private schools assembled at the venue. The students of D.B.N. V.M.M.M. along with renowned personalities of the state paid homage and floral tribute to the holy soul. Children recited patriotic poems and songs. Tribute was paid in 16 languages by the tribal communities of Gujjar, Hindi, Dogri, Kashmiri, Urdu etc. Former Minister Gurcharan Singh Charak ,the great Gandhian welcomed the mass gathering. The teachings of Gandhiji were reminded to the students and they were asked to follow the footsteps of Gandhi ji, whose long path was full of struggle and teaches us a lesson of non- violence. Although it had been drizzling, everyone remained bewitched listening to the speakers. The programme accorded “Unity in Diversity”. Various political leaders also acknowledged the programme.
SKILL: Story telling is an art that has mental, social and educational benefits on children. It also enhances confidence among the children. Keeping this in mind, the students of kindergarten performed spectacularly by narrating their story “The Hare and the Tortoise” with moral in a musical way by using props, voice modulation, impressive expressions as well as actions. The content and the presentation of the kids were outstanding. The little storytellers won everyone’s heart and were applauded.
SPORTS: Tug of war was played between section A and B of class VI. Five sets were played. The purpose of this sport is to directly put two teams against each other in a test of strength and to inculcate team work and coordination. Team B pulled on opposite ends of the rope with the aim to bring the rope at a certain distance in one direction against the force of the pull of opposing Team A. Three sets were won by section B, boys and girls. Section A won 2 sets. Section B was declared a winning team. Their victory is the result of their co-ordination and strength.
STUDY: Theoretical Knowledge of skill based subjects need to be supported by practice. In these subjects, practical knowledge is more important than theoretical knowledge. Practical work includes experiment in laboratories, study tours, project etc. This week students of class X were taken to physics lab to verify the laws of reflection and laws of refraction themselves with the help of their science teacher.
